Steve and Laura have been married for 26 years, and have 6 kids. Four of them came to us the old fashioned way. The other two joined our family last December through the miracle of adoption.

Shega and Megan have been home nearly nine months. Many people ask us, "Soooooo…How’s it going?" We always answer, "Great!" Usually, that is a true answer. Sometimes we have struggles, but we are overwhelmingly glad God blessed us with these two beautiful Ethiopian princesses! Why adopt from Ethiopia? Here are some statistics from The World Health Organization about Ethiopia: About Ethiopia The life expectancy of a baby born in Ethiopia is 42.7 years. The current average wage is $160.00 per year. The average number of births per woman is 6. Over 40 % of women give birth before the age of 19. One in ten infants die before the age of 1. One in six children die before the age of 5 from preventable disease. The main cause of infant/child death is diarrhea and pneumonia. There are currently about 4 million orphans (UNICEF) Over 50% of children have stunted growth because of lack of nutrition. Only 26% of adult women are literate. Although we don’t think adoption is the solution for the problems of Ethiopia, until the problems are solved in other ways, adoption can help to ease the problem for the those orphans who are adopted. When we look at our girls, we feel the pain of their birth families as well as the joy we have in them. It’s becoming an oddly familiar feeling.
